Co-location
services are offered in our provider's Kansas
City Internet Data Centers (IDCs). The
facilities offer significant bandwidth capacity via 6
diverse DS-3 connections. Additionally,
we offer Carrier Neutral Facilities (CNF) via our dual
OC-12s, allowing customers to order their
own private circuits for bandwidth needs.
Clients most often choose our co-location
provider for their strong reliability, yet economical pricing. Our
colocation plans are reasonably priced, and start at only $600
per month.
Colocate
with an Open Rack or Secured Cabinet
Colocation services are available in Open
Rack Service (ORS) and Secured Cabinet
Solutions (SCS). Our co-location providers currently have
over 6,200 square feet of data center
space, and co-location customers receive handoffs via the new Category
6 cable with gigabit ethernet over copper capability. 100% Cisco
switched networks provide a higher quality of service than most
other providers.
Plans and
Pricing
All of our co-location plans are custom configurations based on
our clients needs. Rather than devising pre-packed solutions, our
sales associates provides a needs-assessment for all potential co-location
clients. Based on our needs assessment, we will recommend the co-location
solution that fits your needs. Below are the considerations for
determining your co-location service plan:
-
Open Rack or Secured
Cabinet
Open Rack Solution (ORS) is a standard, 19"
rack with 2 posts that is not enclosed. By contrast, our Secured
Cabinet Solution (SCS) is a 4 post enclosure with a lock-and-key
access to your space. Some equipment may need to be rackmounted
in a 4-post rack. However, we provide shelves with our Open
Rack Service, so you can place this equipment on a shelf rather
than needing to purchase Secured Cabinet Service if you wish.
As you might expect, Secured Cabinets are more expensive than
Open Racks for the same amount of rackspace.
-
How Much Rackspace
Do You Need?
Typically, this is simple to determine. Just
measure the height of your equipment you plan to co-locate,
and add them together. Convert your total to inches, then divide
by 1.75 and round up. This is the number of rackmount units
(RU) you will need for your equipment. We sell our co-location
space in rackmount units of 4, 8, 16, 32, 50 for Open Rack Service,
and 1/3, 1/2, and full cabinets for Secured Cabinet Solutions.
However, consider future growth and additional equipment for
your rackspace purchase. Make sure you are allowing room for
growth.
-
How Much Bandwidth
Will You Require?
There will be a minimum amount of bandwidth
that you will purchase with your rackspace, called the "committed
rate". If your bandwidth needs are less than this minimum,
then you need not purchase additional bandwidth. Otherwise,
consider purchasing a higher committed rate, as it will save
you money rather than paying bandwidth overusage fees. We calculate
all of our clients' bandwidth consumption based on the 95th
percentile method.
-
Don't Forget the
Extras
Your rackspace will come with a certain number
of IP addresses, shelves, and power outlets. Additional IP addresses,
shelves, or additional power and/or special power needs are
additional fees. Additional IP addresses and shelves are small
costs, additional power consumption can get costly, depending
on usage (just like bandwidth). Once you have determined any
of the extras you might need, you have completed your custom
co-location plan.
