Transit
service is the service of providing "automatic
bandwidth" to Internet service providers and businesses
needing access to the Internet. This is the most commonly used method
for service providers in the small market enterprise (SME), due
to it being most economical in the short-run.
Long-Term
Transit Bandwith Network Strategy
Though our provider's long-term network strategy is to have more
and more of the network traffic sent through their peers than their
transit providers, they believe that transit service will continue
to have its place in their network strategy. Simply put, they believe
there is no substitute for transit
service provided through superior network
providers. The best of the Tier-1 providers rarely peer,
due to their extremely large IP network, and their assumptions that
those wanting superior network service will be forced to purchase
transit instead of no-cost peering.
Network
Maps and SLAs of Transit Service Providers
Our transit providers consist of UUNet Technologies, Global Crossing,
and Sprint Communications. These providers are known to be costly,
but also for their consistent, reliable service. Our providers maintains
180Mbs of its overall bandwidth capacity
through these three providers.
The menu on the left provides network
diagrams for UUNet Technologies, Global Crossing, and Sprint Communications.
We have also provided links to our providers' Service Level Agreements
(SLA)s, which ensure a certain level of network uptime is received.
Along with multiple connections, this ensures that our providers
are able to deliver on their own SLAs to our clients.
